Interesting facts about me

I am a PA in Emergency Medicine. I am a girly girl who is a tom boy!! I love to fish (but mostly when I am actually catching fish) I know more about fishing and sports than my boyfriend...yikes!! I play softball, ride bikes, live on a lake in Iowa that has TONS of Crappie and some big ol' Catfish!! I spend every moment I can on the lake!

Hey Doc - sounds like you guys are gonna want to spin fish and possibly keep some trout to eat or take back to Iowa. If thats the case you really need to look at fishing what is called Roundhouse Shoals. It will be located upstream from Rim Shoals. It is not a "catch and release" area so you will be able to spinfish using artitical lures and even bait if you so desire. I have flyfished the area quite a bit and it can be really good. The key will be generation. If they are generating water, you won't be able to wade it. If your gonna try flyfishing, Rim Shoals is defenitley my top pick. Also research or ask in the forum about Wildcat Shoals. I have done well at both places. If you are just getting generalizations in the forum, drop me a line and I can tell you what has worked for me in the past concerning artificial lures or flys. Another great outlet for information is the Mountain River Fly Shop. They have a Website. Call and ask for Steve Dally and you will get some great info. From one Hawkeye to another (unless of course your a State fan) hope you guys have a great trip. Should be some great weather compared to what you guys have had up there the past week or so. Good luck and let me know if I can help. I got alot of help when I started fishing the area years ago so I don't mind passing on the favor.

Yes, spin fish for the most part. I bought my first fly rod today and hope to learn a bit while I am down there. I can't wait. thanks for the info. Keep it coming. :-)
